National Public Lands Day at Penrose Commons

About this event

CMTRA volunteers will work with the BLM Royal Gorge Field Office (RGFO) and other volunteers to install 10 metal campfire rings in the new camping loop.  The work entails digging a hole, mixing and pouring concrete into a wooden form, then setting the rings into the concrete to form a permanent campfire pit.  Please be prepared with food and water and appropriate protective clothing and eye protection.  The RGFO may have other trail work planned as time permits.  The RGFO is expecting the work to take 4 hours or so.

CMTRA is considering a group ride at Penrose Commons following the workday activities, so be on the lookout for updates at our August 13, 2025 Club meeting and to this description as we get closer to the workday.

Volunteering goes a long way to improving our relationship with land managers and our reputation with the public.  We also have a lot of laughs and build camaraderie among Club members.  Please consider joining us for a fun day!
