Tad Hershey ran the meeting as our President, Mark Miquelon was heading east on a road trip.

===========================================

We had a guest speaker, Congressman Jeff Crank, our representative in the 5th District of Colorado.  He spoke on several subjects concerning outdoor recreation and particularly motorized recreational access.  He is the sponsor for H.R. 7979, Public Lands Access Restoration Act, which would return access to roads and trails on public lands unless specifically marked closed.  That is contrary to the current Roadless Rule, marking all roads and trails closed UNLESS marked open.

The Congressman also took questions from our members. Our members enjoyed the opportunity to engage with Congressman Crank, and we are very pleased he took time to come to our meeting.  Tad gave him one of our jerseys as a nice token of our appreciation.

We are currently remain in Stage 2 fire restrictions throughout our local riding area.  Please do your part to help prevent forest fires.  The fire down south has pretty much wiped out our riding area around Lake Isabel and Squirrel Creek.  Our nearby local trails are still open to ride, but the area is very dry and could easily go up in smoke due to careless behavior.

Want to get involved?  We are looking for someone to step up and be our Project Manager for the Penrose Commons grant project in 2027.  Your Executive Team can handle this, but it is a perfect opportunity for a motivated individual to contribute to our club.  Contact Mark Miquelon if interested.

Tad and Mark presented our Rainbow Falls Keystone Project to our Forest Service district ranger on 4 August.  They got a very favorable result and agreement to move forward with the project.  This will add ~16 miles of new trail to connect our North Divide trail system to the 770 trail system up north, all via new single track trails.  This is a work in progress and will take a few years to complete, but we are making progress.  Stay tuned...

Wanna ride to the top of Pikes Peak?  We are doing a club ride to the top on Sunday, 16 August.  You'll need a licensed motorcycle, a timed reservation, and a ticket to enter.  We'll meet at Rudy's on Hwy 24 at 0900, group up, and head out to the Pikes Peak entry station.  You'll need a timed entry for the 1000-1100 hour.  We did a similar ride back in 2023 and it was really fun and the views were spectacular.  Dust off your dual sport, adventure or street bike.  Get your timed entry to drive up Pikes Peak here:

Anyone still want a Klim jersey?  Tad is looking to get 10 members to sign up and he'll put in another order.
