Routine issues were covered, we still have money in our treasury. 🙂 We held a very short election to reelect our Executive Team members. All incumbents retained their positions for another year. Our membership is now at 107 members.
We took a moment of silence to remember member Mike Cook who passed away on 25 Dec 2025. A memorial service will be held on 2 Feb 2026 at Chapel of Memories, 829 S. Hancock Ave., Colorado Springs CO 80903 at 10:00 am. RIP Mike.
Tad briefed us on the ongoing saga of our Klim jerseys. We might get them in February. Klim has been very apologetic, and sent Tad 50 packs of Klim beef jerky. We passed those out at our meeting to all members and guests.
We finished paying the contractors we hired for the Penrose Commons OHV singletrack trail studies and mapping. So, that grant money has been spent. We've applied for two more grants for Penrose, one for the actual work to lay in the single track miles, and the second one to add a trials/practice area. If approved, both would be 2027 dollars.
Tad and Bret gave a recap our our December meeting with the Pikes Peak Ranger District concerning our desire to add more single track trails in the North Divide trails system. Their slides are included with the meeting minutes if you wish to review them. Short and sweet, they did a great job presenting the data they accumulated from their trail study this past year and got positive responses from the Forest Service. We are making progress! Stay tuned for more info in the future.
Supercross has started up again. We keep the events posted on our calendar. Dakar is also currently in progress. Some pretty impressive racing going on there, with Americans doing quite well.
